Mitch Wincentaylo is a graduate from Yellowhead Tribal College in Edmonton, from the IESR (Indigenous Environmental Stewardship and Reclamation) Program. After working in the environmental space for a few years, he began working for the Town of Devon as their first Indigenous Engagement Coordinator in 2019. Mitch is a Settler-Canadian who is passionate about Treaty and Cultural Awareness and Education, the Environment and bringing people together. He is an ally to Indigenous Peoples and is focused on creating opportunities for people to learn about Treaty and history through hands-on experiences.
Not only does Mitch maintain relationships for the municipality, but he also enjoys connecting with people from Nations and communities. The majority of his work is focused on bringing people together and bridging the gap through education and experiences; working with Indigenous Peoples and inviting them to the community to assist the municipality along its path of learning and understanding. When he’s not in the office, Mitch can be found visiting one of the various Nations of Treaty Six Territory, enjoying the outdoors or organizing one of the many cultural events that are held in Devon throughout the year.
