The Town of Devon has no shortage of beautiful parks and recreational facilities for visitors to enjoy. In addition to the river alley trails, the Town currently maintains approximately 10 kms of multi-use paved trails linking neighborhoods that form meandering park-to-park connections. Voyager Park is a great family park for summer activities and offers easy access to the river and trails. The trail system has way-finding signage along the path highlighting the wildlife you may encounter. Families enjoy large wide-open areas with plenty of picnic tables and fire pits to enjoy an afternoon picnic, as well as general areas that have expansive play areas for kids and public restrooms. Come find our ‘secret park’, nestled away in among grand trees and shrubbery. Devon is a great place to get away with an easy commute from Edmonton!
Located on Athabasca Avenue (across from John Maland High School), Centennial Park is a beautiful setting for a picnic, recreational activity or even wedding/family photos. Amenities include a gazebo, picnic tables, benches, volleyball court, outdoor skating rink. The Town of Devon thanks the local Bloom 2000 Gardening Society for maintaining the wide assortment of flower beds in this park.
Located at the end of Saskatchewan Avenue West along the North Saskatchewan River, this beautiful area includes a boat launch, picnic tables, Gazebo, and washroom facilities. Voyageur Park is also the westernmost point for the beginning of the River Valley Alliance parks and trail system that starts here in Devon and runs all the way to the County of Strathcona to Fort Saskatchewan, a full 88km of riverfront integrated park.
This relaxing green space, complete with picnic tables, is one of the main links between the trails to the river valley area. The river valley mural that decorates the adjacent building was painted by the Local Youth Experience.
Devon’s trail system has something to offer everyone from bird-watching and biking to berry picking and skiing. The Nordic Ski Club maintains a number of trails in the winter season and provides lessons and an opportunity to go on group ski outings and generally have a good time in the open air on these wonderful trails.
Playgrounds are essential to the quality of life in a neighborhood as they serve as a gathering place for parents and children to interact in a positive attitude.
Upgrades are underway on Devon's River Valley Trail that connects Voyageur Park to the Lions Campground.
Designed by mountain bike park builder extraordinaire, Jay Hoots, this park is a welcome mat to mountain biking. The park offers opportunities for riders of all ages on all types of bikes to learn and practice bike handling in a planned, safe, natural environment. The park features include a large wooden skills area, pump track and a series of dirt jumps which range from beginner to advanced levels.
