Family Violence Prevention

If you or someone you know is experiencing family violence you can call the 24-hour Family Violence Information Line (toll-free) at 310-1818.  If you are in immediate danger, please call 911.

FCSS can help you if: 

  • You are seeking help creating a safety plan for yourself or family.
  • You need to be connected with services, supports, and referrals for financial resources, legal advise and resources, housing options, and health and mental support.
  • You have questions on the impacts of family violence. 
  • You are looking for information on resources for information on resources for individuals who are concerned about their loved ones being involved in an abusive relationship. 
  • You are concerned about an individuals abusive behaviours or about your own abusive behaviours towards family members.

What is abuse? 

Abuse is a pattern of controlling behaviour. In families, an abusive person can use many tactics to gain power over another family member:

  • Damaging personal property
  • Name-calling, put-downs and other forms of verbal and emotional abuse
  • Hitting, punching, kicking and other forms of physical abuse
  • Sexual abuse
  • Neglect
  • Forced confinement
  • Stalking
  • Ridiculing a person’s religious beliefs
  • Spending a person’s money or limiting their access to finances

What is the Leduc and District Family Violence Prevention Team?

Devon is part of the The Leduc and District Family Violence Prevention Team is a partnership of agencies covering Beaumont, Devon, Leduc, and Leduc County whose purpose is to provide education, awareness, and prevention initiatives around the region.

We currently offer community based programs, designed to help build healthy family relationships. These strength-based services are open to those affected by family violence. Priority enrolment is given to Leduc City, Leduc County, Beaumont, and Devon residents.
